Soup Day Summary


SOUP DAY: against food waste in Aachen.Soup Day took place on Nov. 24, 2022 at RWTH Aachen University, Faculty of Architecture. The event, which was held under the Tree House, was received with great enthusiasm.


As part of the project, soup, made from rescued food, was distributed free of charge to students, professors and staff. The Soup Day event was organized by Master students of the Faculty of Architecture as part of an impromptu project by the Chair of Landscape Architecture. The day of action was planned and coordinated in advance by a number of small teams.

In total, an incredible 50 kg of food could be saved. Compared to the German-wide food waste of about 82 kg per person per year, this is a good start!

From the total quantity of saved food, 4 different soups could be cooked.

In total, about 400 people attended the event. Many of the visitors and passers-by were of the opinion that they would attend similar events in future, particularly in the same venue. The Soup Day team also shares this opinion !
