Green Box: Transdisciplinary Online Course on Building Greening
Planning the "climate-smart" city of the future requires expertise..."Green infrastructure" or "blue-green infrastructure" - these buzzwords stand for the importance of ecosystems and their services for human well-being. These "services" include climate protection, climate adaptation, flood prevention, biodiversity conservation, and recreation.
In architecture and urban planning, the greening of buildings represents an interface between technical and biotic systems. However, this topic is currently only rudimentarily considered in studies throughout Germany. One reason for this is the transdisciplinary expertise required for the successful planning of green buildings in the context of the climate-resilient city.
The transdisciplinary online course "Green Box" bundles and makes available this overarching expertise from teaching, science and practice. The Green Box series provides students of architecture and urban planning with the basic knowledge they need to design and build cities and buildings in cooperation with other disciplines.
The online course runs on the teaching and learning platform Moodle. Knowledge is delivered through lecture videos and additional resources. Test questions, research tasks and exercises are used to deepen and consolidate what is taught. This forms the basis for the students' own project work (design). Questions, ideas and inspirations are exchanged in a course forum moderated by the instructors.
